His studio process mirrors this act of immersion: he folds, scrapes, and peels back layers of paint, allowing the raw, industrial weight of synthetic tarpaulin, folded mesh, and aluminum to dictate where color settles and where it bleeds away.

He builds up surfaces only to distress and erode them, deliberately pushing each painting to the brink of collapse to see what remains. Through continuous layering and partial erasure, forms dissolve into ghostly traces—much like physical traces of lived experience that fade without ever fully disappearing. Extending beyond the flat wall, these works wrap around architectural structures to engage with the shifting light of the space, each piece carrying a buried history where hidden, eroded layers actively shape everything left on the surface.

Ivanco Talevski

About the artist

Sasho Blazes is a Macedonian visual artist based in Ohrid, working across painting, object and installation.
