Saint- Saens Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><strong>KINGA AUGUSTYN, VIOLIN<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Polish &#8211; born and New York City &#8211; based violinist Kinga Augustyn has been described as<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201can adventurous performer valuable to New York\u2019s scene\u201d (NY Concert Review), \u201ca violinist<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>for whom nothing seems too difficult&#8221; (Nowy Dziennik), and \u201cstylish and vibrant\u201d (The Strad<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Magazine). She has performed as a soloist with orchestras in the United States and<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Europe. Among them are the Magdeburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Leopoldinum, the Wroclaw Philharmonic Orchestra, the American Academy of Conducting<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Orchestra at the Aspen Music Festival, the Empire State Sinfonia, and the Augusta<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Symphony Orchestra. In addition to her many orchestra appearances, she maintains a<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>busy concert schedule as a recitalist and chamber musician with appearances at Carnegie<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hall in both the Stern Auditorium and the Weill Recital Hall, Alice Tully Hall, The<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Metropolitan Museum of Art, Merkin Hall, The Kosciuszko Foundation, 7 World Trade<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Center, WMP Hall, The Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, Bargemusic, Polish and<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hungarian Embassies in Washington, DC, The Aspen Music Festival, and the Ethical<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Society in Philadelphia. She is also a member of pianist Jeffrey Biegel\u2019s Trio 21 with cellist<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Robert deMaine.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Augustyn is committed to increasing awareness of music by Polish composers, as well<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>as promoting contemporary music. She has premiered Michael White\u2019s Sonata for Violin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>and Piano and his Trio Sonata, which were composed especially for her. She has also<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>recorded his Quartet for Piano and Strings. Her Naxos record of Kenneth Fuchs\u2019 Falling<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Trio, recorded with Trio 21, will be released later on this year.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Augustyn began her music studies at the age of seven in her native Poland. She<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>eventually went on to study at The Juilliard School, where she worked with Dorothy DeLay,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Cho &#8211; Liang Lin, and Naoko Tanaka, and earned both the Bachelor and the Master<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>degrees. She is currently a doctoral candidate at the State University of New York at<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Stony Brook, where her teachers have included Philippe Graffin, Phil Setzer and Pamela<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Frank.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ms. Augustyn won international awards, including First Prize at the Alexander &amp; Buono<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>International String Competition (New York, 2009), First Prize at the Artist International<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Presentations (New York, 2007), Second Prize at the Kosciuszko Foundation Wieniawski<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Violin Competition (New York, 2007), Special Audience Award at the Johannes Brahms<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>International Competition (Poertschach, Austria, 2001), First Prize at the J. S. Bach String<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Competition (Zielona Gora, Poland, 1999), Special Prize for Virtuosity and Fourth Prize at<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>the Kloster Schoental International Young Artist Competition (Kloster Scheontal, Germany,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1999). Most recently, in 2010, she won First Prize at the Ackerman Chamber Music<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Competition at Stony Brook, NY.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>JASNA POPOVIC, PIANO<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pianist Jasna Popovic was born in Belgrade, Serbia,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>where she received her first piano lesson at the age<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>of six. Popovic attended the Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>und Theater in Munich, Germany. She has won<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>numerous awards, notably the Fourth Place at the<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>International Competition in Rome and Second Place<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>at the National Piano Competition in Belgrade.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Popovic has performed at various festivals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>throughout Europe, and, in 2005, Popovic was<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>honoured with an invitation to perform at the<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>International Keyboard Festival in New York. In 2006,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>she received the Passantino Award for Special<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Achievements from the City University of New York.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This academic recognition was followed by a series<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>of successful performances at Steinway Hall, Lefrack<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hall, Weill Recital Hall\/Stern Perlman Auditorium at<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Carnegie Hall.
