The notion of \u2018play\u2019 allows artists to create without a predetermined certainty, which releases any categorization on their work. \u2018Functionality\u2019 refers to the degrees to which an object can fulfill a given objective. The selected group of work obscures both meanings and constructs a space that is in-between the physical and imagined. The lives of the works are contingent upon the viewers&#8217; participation in order to be fully activated.<\/p>\n<p>The work of Anneli Goeller, Ian Costello, and Kerim Zapsu intervene with the particular utilities of machines and appropriate their functions into a subjective space. Julie Moon, Lauren Rodriguez, and Adam Echahly employ formal elements as interior structures to create works that are apparent in their formal constitution, but more nuanced in their interpretations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"ngg_displayed_gallery mceItem\" src=\"\/h\/nextgen-attach_to_post\/preview\/id--3894\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In that direction is a study of 5 young artists who work with forms of play and functionality, both in their process and in the final outcome.
