An intimate evening with the film composer Duke Bojadziev, performing his music with a long time collaborators MP Quartet, creating a unique fusion of Balkan flavors and cinematic vibes.<\/p>\n

Duke Bojadziev<\/strong><\/em> (bo-ya-gee-ev) is a film music composer, record producer, and pianist. Born and raised in Macedonia, Duke earned a medical degree while simultaneously nurturing his passion for music since early childhood. Ultimately deciding to pursue music as a full-time career, he moved to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music. Upon graduating, Duke moved to New York City to dedicate himself to work as a film composer. His efforts have produced collaborations with Academy Award-winning directors Jonathan Demme and Danis Tanovic, as well as Oscar nominees Stole Popov and Veljko Bulajic. Throughout his career, Duke has taken great pleasure from performing his music live with various ensembles at celebrated concert halls in Europe and America including Carnegie Hall, The Highline Ballroom, Cipriani Ballroom, Art Basel (Miami), The Avalon Theater (Los Angeles) and Ohrid\u2019s Summer Festival. Coming to us direct from Skopje, Macedonia, Music<\/strong> Progressive<\/strong>Quartet<\/strong><\/em> (MP Quartet<\/strong>) is comprised of four young, conservatory-trained, world-class professional classical musicians who play with the National Macedonian Philharmonic orchestra and guest with countless other groups and at numerous festivals in the Balkans and beyond. In MPQ, they break out into another idiom, presenting a fresh jazz take on traditional folk songs of Macedonia. Beguiling audiences with total mastery of their instruments (violin, viola, cello, and oboe), innovative and witty arrangements, and a warm and engaging stage manner, they were a surprise break-out hit as soloist on the concert tour of West Coast Symphony in Macedonia in 2012. They are coming in Vancouver for their first time and another appearance with WCS. Members of MPQ are Vladimir Lazarevski on oboe; Vladimir Krstev, on violin; Marko Videnovik, on viola and as composer and arranger and Paskal Krapovski on cello.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
