Composer’s Voice Concert Series

The Composer’s Voice Concert Series is presenting a unique showcase of living composers at Gallery MC on January 14th at 7:30 PM. The series will be kicking off 2016 with a very special concert giving a voice to our composers as well as our beloved performers.The performers will have a chance to play some of their favorite works and present their own improvisations.

The Composer’s Voice Concert Series is an opportunity for contemporary composers to express their aesthetic and personal voice. Founded in 2001 by Robert Voisey, Composer’s Voice has presented hundreds of concerts in New York City. The series has premiered thousands of works from living composers from around the world. Works are chosen from a wide range of contemporary composers of different styles, aesthetics, and genre. The works are performed by dedicated musicians devoted to new music. Performances are recorded and archived to further promote new music, performers, and composers. The Composer’s Voice Concert Series, listed as “One of the premier showcases for promising composers” by Time Out New York, will present works by Constance Cooper, Reiko Fueting, Robert Voisey, Douglas DaSilva, Susanna Hancock, Charlie Rauh, Dennis Báthory-Kitsz, Milica Paranosic, David Shergold, Kit Mills, David Morneau, David Bohn, Kenyon Wilson, and more. These composers’ works have been performed around the world at such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, Hot Springs Music Festival, Taneycomo Music Festival, and the Sydney Opera House.

The concert will feature performances by vocal trio Arc Welding (Constance Cooper, Beth Griffith, and Lauren Lee), guitarist/composer Charlie Rauh, violinist Tzu-En Lee, clarinetist Kristen Mather de Andrade, bassoonist Susanna Hancock, baritone saxophonist Shelley Washington,shō instrumentalist Chatori Shimizu, and flutist Lish Lindsey.They have performed around the world at venues includingWarsaw Autumn, Cologne Triennale, Wien Modern, Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall,Numus Festival, Kennedy Center, New Music America, Pocket Opera, andYale School of Art.
