CROATIAN Art & Craft EXPO 2

Reception at Gallery MC on February 15th, 2010 from 6 – 9 pm


The ten-day cultural event will consist of two parts representing current Croatian applied and fine arts, featuring over twenty contemporary artisans working in traditional and non-traditional media, such as ceramics, glass, metal, stone, textiles,unique jewelry, product design, paintings and more. Including an extra exhibition of three artists SUZANA STIMAC, MARGARETA KRSTIC and VENDI BOROVIC.

The goal of the exhibition is to introduce exciting art works from Croatia to an American audience and to promote Croatia as a country with a rich and diverse cultural heritage.


CULTURAL EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT /EXHIBITION SUMMARY


The ten-day cultural event consists of four exhibitions representing current Croatian applied and fine arts, featuring over thirty contemporary artists and artisans working in traditional and non-traditional media, such as ceramics, glass, metal, stone, textiles, unique jewelry, product design, paintings and more.


CROATIAN art&craft EXPO 2


consists of four ART EXHIBITIONS:


* Solo exhibition of the sculptoress MARGARETA KRSTIĆ

(entitled „OUR ANCESTOR/HOW THEY LIVED AND WORKED“ 17 figural sculptures made in the demanding technique of Raku pottery)

* EXHIBITION of two painters from town of Split  SUZANA ŠTIMAC and VENDI BOROVIĆ (acrylics and oils)

* TRADITIONAL FASHION – MODERN DISPLAY – unique fashion collection inspired by CROATIAN TRADITION (eight Croatian authors)

* CROATIAN HANDICRAFTS EXHIBITION (unique jewelry – from natural fabrics to solid gold(various Croatian artists)

and

Open Days of CROATIAN arts and crafts consisting of several workshops and presentations (lace, embroidery, gold crafts, ceramics)

The goal of the exhibition is to introduce exciting art works from Croatia to an American audience, and to promote Croatia as a country with a rich and diverse cultural heritage, as well as promote Croatia as an inseparable part of Mediterranean culture .

Our mission is to provide support in broadening public awareness of and appreciation for Croatian art and culture in the United States, by introducing the contemporary and traditional arts & crafts of Croatia to an American audience, to stimulate ongoing cross-cultural dialogue between the two nations.

NAJAVA MANIFESTACIJE/SAŽETAK MANIFESTACIJE

CROATIAN art&craft EXPO 2
je desetodnevna kulturna manifestacija koja objedinjuje nekoliko umjetničkih dogadjanja i po drugi put se održava u NEW YORK-u, od 13. do 23. veljače, 2010. godine u galeriji na Manhattanu – „MC GALLERY“ 549 WEST 52ND ST, NEW YORK NY 10019
CROATIAN art&craft EXPO 2
se sastoji od ČETIRI LIKOVNE IZLOŽBE:
• SAMOSTALNA IZLOŽBA KIPARICE MARGARETE KRSTIĆ ( izložba skulptura figuralnog izričaja pod naslovom „KAKO SU ŽIVJELI I RADILI NAŠI STARI“ izradjeni u zahtjevnoj RAKU tehnici pečenja keramike)
• IZLOŽBA SLIKA SPLITSKIH SLIKARICA SUZANE ŠTIMAC i VENDI BOROVIĆ (recentni ciklusi akrilika na platnu)
• ETNO MODA DISPLAY – IZLOŽBA UNIKATNIH MODNIH URADAKA INSPIRIRANI HRVATSKOM TRADICIJOM ( osam hrvatskih autora )
• IZLOŽBA HRVATSKOG UNIKATNOG NAKITA – OD PRIRODNIH MATERIJALA DO PLEMENITIH METALA (presjek ručno radjenog nakita hrvatskih umjetnika)
te OTVORENIH DANA HRVATSKOG UMJETNIČKOG I TRADICIJSKOG OBRTA koji se sastoje od nekoliko radionica i prezentacija hrvatske primijenjene umjetnosti i umjetničkog obrta (čipka, vez, zlatarski obrt, keramika)

Povodom manifestacije u prostorijama MC GALLERY održati će se dva svečana domjenka:
15.veljače 2010.g. – SVEČANOST POVODOM OTVORENJA samostalne izložbe kiparice MARGARETE KRSTIĆ u okviru CROATIAN art&craft EXPO 2, izložbu će svečano proglasiti otvorenom – veleposlanica RH u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama – gdja KOLINDA GRABAR-KITAREVIĆ

18.veljače 2010.g. – SVEČANOST POVODOM OTVORENJA IZLOŽBI ETNO MODA DISPLAY i IZLOŽBE HRVATSKOG UNIKATNOG NAKITA, te OTVORENIH DANA HRVATSKOG UMJETNIČKOG I TRADICIJSKOG OBRTA

OSNOVNI CILJ MANIFESTACIJE – upoznati američku kulturnu javnost s recentnim uratcima hrvatske likovne i primijenjene umjetnosti te promovirati Hrvatsku kao zemlju MEDITERANA s bogatom tradicijskom baštinom koja je neodvojivi dio europskog kulturnog naslijedja.
