MC Mondays with TA KA DI MI Project

Dear MC Family,

This month, we are multitasking BIG time. We have an amazing program, so please read on and forward. This is as exciting as it gets.

As this edition of MC Mondays lands right in the middle of the highly anticipated Composers Concordance Festival, with one of its concerts being held right at the home of MC Mondays,Gallery MC (feb 3rd, the concert featuring electronics and new media) , we will have an open rehearsal for that concert as part of the open mic part.

Additionally, Milica and Gorazd will present their new brain child, a neighborhood and community alliance Clinton Highlights (website coming soon). The presentation will include a short screening.

The open mic portion will still be ‘open’ for all and any open micers willing to perform.
Gallery MC  and Milica Paranosic present the MC Mondays Open Mic series Gallery MC, 549 West 52nd Street, 8th Floor (Between 10th and 11th Avenue)

$5 at the door, general seating

Gallery MC and composer/performing artist Milica Paranosic present MC Mondays, an Open Mic series, a monthly performance event that will take place every last Monday of the month, 7-10PM.

The programming is curated by Milica Paranosic.

The series encourages interdisciplinary and collaborative work and is designed to offer artists an opportunity to showcase their work, garner feedback, and network with other artists and presenters in a supportive, informal setting. Featured will be works requiring minimal technical and production demand. Presentations of various duration in all stages of progress are encouraged as this series will not only highlight finished works but will also serve as a development laboratory.

And then at 8:30 (BIG drrrrrrrrum rrrrrrroll), our fabulous feature this month are the amazing Lori Cotler and Glen Velez, A.K.A. TA KA DI MI project.

This special TA KA DI MI project performance will feature ‘Tel Halaf’ a seminal Glen Velez composition. This piece uses the ideas of Indonesian style hocketing, Indian drum language and lightning fast rhythmic cueing to dramatic effect.
Tel Halaf is often referred to by drummers as a “beautiful rhythmic beast from another world” and in this arrangement Lori Cotler is the only vocalist who dared to tackle it.

TA KA DI MI project has traveled the world and filled the most famous concert halls on the globe, so we are incredibly excited to have them share their art with us.

Please make sure to mark your calendars. This one is not to be missed. RSVP at https://www.facebook.com/events/184453031653020/
