Ensemble Ipse presents “The Ways In Which,” a collaborative installation and performance exploring divergent themes of isolation. Created by composer Joseph Di Ponio, visual artist Catherine Katsafouros and performer Margaret Lancaster, this work is part of Ensemble Ipse’s innovative SiteWorks series, which focuses on long-duration pieces designed for specific spaces.

“The Ways In Which” transcends traditional concert formats to create an immersive sound and video environment. The transformative multimedia installation will run uninterrupted from 11 am – 4 pm. At 4 pm, Lancaster will navigate the installation in a one hour performative exploration of 5 disparate modalities of isolation (social isolation, shelter, political isolation, confinement, sanctuary). This work invites audiences to experience a layered, contemplative space where live performance, electronic soundscapes and evocative visuals intermingle and engage.

This event is sponsored, in part by The Amphion Foundation, The Aaron Copland Fund for Music, The Alice M. Ditson Fund, The New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature, and by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
