The Radiant Love of Maria S.C. is a poignant play about Maria Sklodowska Curie’s passionate life and scientific work. It is not a documentary drama. It is a fascinating memory play about discrimination, repression, and abuse. It is about a bright, smart, talented and passionate woman, a two time-Nobel Prize Award recipient, who is torn apart between her scientific research, her sense of justice, between what is right and wrong, her fight for civil/women rights, and her passionate and unrequited love.
The play will be performed as a stage reading on the occasion of Maria Skłodowska Curie’s birthday, 7 November 1867.
With this project Poiesis Theatre Project honors and celebrates her great life.
The Radiant Love of Maria S.C. will have its full production next season as a collaborative project created by Poiesis Theatre Project and LaMaMa.
This original work inspired by Maria Sklodowska Curie’s passionate life features performers from around the world engaging an emergent generation of artists and citizens, such as Natalie Mitchell, Tony Naumovski, Matilde Dratwa, Kannan Menon, and Koki Dimushevski.
